April 2017: Welcome

Written by: Isabel Finch
The sun is shining, the windows are open and the wildlife is abundant - a sure sign spring is here.

We recently held our AGM and, after the formalities, presentations to our committee, business partners and guests acknowledged commitment and dedication to the Guild and the industry.

The AGM signals a year since I became National Chairman and I can't believe how quickly it has gone. We have achieved lots but still have vast amounts to do.

We have a few new business partners on board and are very close to launching our new business partner packages that will help our smaller artisan suppliers, and offer more value for money to our large commercial partners.

Last month, the Guild delivered the Catering Equipment Distributors' Association dinner with the support of the British Culinary Federation and the Academy of Culinary Arts. Working with these other two chefs' associations was not only a first, but also a sign that together we are stronger. Matt Davies and Julie Sharp, along with Alan Paton, helped me deliver a great dinner and a memorable evening (see page 34).

Finally, Andrew Green and I attended Buckingham Palace to discuss which events HRH the Countess of Wessex will attend in the next few years. We also had a private tour and were told we could host an event at the palace, so watch this space for a royal event in the not-too-distant future.
