Unox unveils plans to become net zero by 2030

Written by: Edward Waddell
Equipment manufacturer Unox has created a multi-million-pound action plan to achieve zero carbon emissions across the global business by 2030.

The ten-step strategy includes the introduction of electric vehicles, on-site renewable energy generation and utilising fully recyclable packaging. By 2030 the business is hoping to produce 3.75MWh of electricity per year with solar panels to compensate for the current fossil fuel consumption.

Plans are underway to create additional state of the art facilities in Padova, Italy running on clean energy due to the inclusion of geothermic heat pumps and solar panels. Working with Padova University Unox plans to plant high oxygen producing trees on the factory development site to produce an ‘oxygen factory’.

Scott Duncan, managing director of UNOX UK, said: “We already have in place a number of mitigation techniques to reduce emissions across the global UNOX business, but we recognise that we need to do more if we are to achieve net zero by 2030.

“It is vital for operators to demonstrate sustainability throughout their supply chain and that includes working with suppliers who are committed to reducing their own emissions across the business.”
