Hartnett joins fellow chefs Jason Atherton, Tom Kerridge, Raymond Blanc OBE, Heston Blumenthal and Jamie Oliver MBE as patrons.

Mark Lewis, chief executive of Hospitality Action, said: “Angela has been a strong advocate of Hospitality Action’s work for many years and it’s fantastic to be able to finally formally recognise her commitment and enthusiasm.

“As an advocate of the charity and the wider industry Angela represents the sector in the media with candour and compassion; she has played a leading role in raising awareness around the plight of hospitality and our response during the last year. I’m delighted to formally welcome her on-board.”

Hospitality Action was launched in 1837 and it aims to offer financial, physical or psychological support services to help people from hospitality get back on their feet.
