EUFIC creates seasonal fruit & veg database

Written by: Edward Waddell
The European Food Information Council (EUFIC) has created a database for chefs and caterers to explore seasonal fruit and vegetables across Europe.

The ‘pioneering database’, which contains 78 fruits and 154 vegetables, has been created so people can follow a more sustainable diet. There are six climate regions across Europe, including Artic, Atlantic, boreal, continental, Mediterranean and mountain.

EUFIC is a non-profit organisation that provides engaging science-based information to 'inspire' healthier and more sustainable lifestyle choices.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2021 as the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables (IYFV). IYFV is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of fruit and vegetables in human nutrition, food security and health.
