Devon's Yeoldon House again hailed as travellers' choice

Written by: Admin
Yeoldon House Hotel in Bideford, Devon, run by Craft Guild of Chef members Brian and Jennifer Steele, has again been included in the latest Travellers' Choice 2011 list of the top 25 hotels in the UK chosen by European travellers.
The list produced by tripadvisor.co.uk, which claims to be the world's largest travel review site, placed Yeoldon House Hotel in 12th position – four places higher than the previous year. Friendliness, excellent food and wonderful location stood out among the many fabulous attributes that were praised by visitors. One party of 13 that hired the entire hotel said it couldn't fault anything – "the food was delicious, and the service and level of detail was perfect", and it described the hotel as an "ideal location for a shooting party". The south west led the field with 10 making it into the top 25. The Boskerris Hotel in St Ives, Cornwall, was again ranked third, while the Charterhouse in Torquay, Devon, rose a place to rank fourth. The top British hotel was once more Rudding Park in Harrogate, Yorkshire, with travellers continuing to praise its faultless staff, food and accommodation. Brian Steele, who is the south west regional representative for the Craft Guild, acknowledged the fact that again no London hotels made it into the top 25 but said with big London hotels, there were good days and bad days. "We however are a small, family run hotel and we have more control over the business, and we offer a much more personal service," he said.
