Catering professionals say being happy is most important at work

Written by: Edward Waddell
Two-thirds of catering professionals say being happy at their workplace is the most part of a job, according to the latest research from job board CV-Library.

The CV-Library research was based on a survey given to 2,300 UK professionals. Over sixty-eight percent of those surveyed said that being happy at work was the most important part of the job, with 88.2% feeling their employer could do more to improve morale in the workplace.

The survey revealed being happy was more important than salary (17.6%) and the location of their work (11.8%). In an industry like catering people do not always have a typical nine to five working day.

Lee Biggins, founder and chief executive of CV-Library, said: "Long-term unhappiness simply isn’t sustainable or healthy for the mental health of your employees, plus it can impact their productivity and efficiency.

"Try to improve morale by scheduling in regular catch-ups with your teams, offering the right perks and encouraging a healthy work-life balance.

"After all, you want to create a company culture that everyone, yourself included, wants to be a part of."

When asked about what contributes to their happiness, catering professionals replied:

- Family= 72.5%

- Friends= 47.1%

- Health= 29.4%

- Money= 29.4%
