Action Against Hunger calls for industry support for charity campaign

Written by: Edward Waddell
Action Against Hunger are running their Love Food Give Food campaign from 1 September and they are calling on the hospitality industry to support their campaign.

The campaign, now in its 22nd year, has raised over £3 million to date to help vulnerable communities all over the world. This year the need is greater than ever due to Covid-19 and the effects of the pandemic.

Cyrus Todiwala, co-founder of Zest Quest Asia and supporter of the campaign, said: “Covid-19 has sent shockwaves across the globe and nowhere are these being felt more prominently than in places like Yemen, Syria and South Sudan.

“They don't have our healthcare system or safety nets, and we are seeing hunger levels grow rapidly. The UK has been hard hit by this virus, including within the hospitality industry, but during our darkest hour we cannot turn our back on those in need.

“I have supported Action Against Hunger for over 20 years and despite the challenges our industry is facing, continuing to support this amazing charity remains a priority.”

The Love Food Give Food campaign has also been supported by chefs including Jason Atherton, Asma Khan and Angela Hartnett.

The campaign encourages consumers to spend money with partners, enjoy food and in turn support communities facing life-threatening hunger around the world.
