Now in its third year, the competition created as a tribute to the late Winnie Myers, a well respected member of the Craft Guild of Chefs’ London division, is organised by the Guild to give young chef/waiter teams aged up to 25 the chance to showcase their skills in creating the perfect afternoon tea comprising finger sandwiches, sweet and savoury pastries, and cakes. Teams are split into two categories – student chefs and working chefs and waiters.

Last year the Artur Voggenberger Open Cake Challenge was added in commemoration of Voggenberger, another veteran member of the Craft Guild. This challenge encourages amateur bakers of any age to produce one large cake or six mini cakes, along with recipes.

Taylors of Harrogate, which supplies awarding winning tea, is the official tea sponsor for the competition, and will be showcasing its Gold speciality tea and coffee range, and providing a surprise prize for the winner and runner up. Craft Guild business partners, Gram and Churchill, are also supporting the competition.

Additional prizes for the winners include Churchill tableware, signed books and lunch for two at Boulangerie Bon Matin in London.
