Top chefs nominated for industry award
Five of the UK and Ireland’s finest chefs have been nominated in the Hi-Life Dining Awards Best Chef category.
Hoping to take home the coveted award are; Enzo Mauro (Stock Restaurant, Manchester), Harry Yeung (Yang Sing, Manchester) Ian Piper (Pipers, Garstang), Michael Deane (Deane's Restaurant, Belfast) and Paul O'Hara (Bridge Inn, Barnard Castle, County Durham). The Hi-Life Dining Awards, in association with Secured Mail, honours Hi-Life restaurants and chefs throughout the UK and Ireland, with nominees and winners voted for by members of Hi-Life Diners Club, the UK and Ireland's largest dining club, which offers two for one dining for all members. The awards evening, known as the HiLDAs, is taking place at Manchester's Hilton Hotel on January 29, 2009. Hi-Life company president, David Heeley, said: "The Hi-Life Dining Awards celebrate the very best chefs and restaurants the UK and Ireland has to offer. This year, the categories are tougher than ever, with over 100,000 Hi-Life members voting for only the finest chefs and top restaurants in each of the 11 categories. I would like to congratulate all the nominees and wish them every success on the night." BBC North West Tonight's anchorman and news presenter Gordon Burns will be hosting the evening, with stars from Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Coronation Street presenting awards. This year's Hi-Life Dining Awards charity is the NSPCC's Child's Voice Appeal. Tickets for the awards are still available to purchase by calling 01253 608910. Priced at £75 per person, the tickets include a Champagne reception, four course meal prepared by The Hilton's head chef, David Gale, and entertainment from band, Cabaret.
