Restaurant launches spring menu with e-Bay auction

To launch its spring menu, Buckinghamshire restaurant of the year The Plough Wavendon launched an auction on e-Bay for their seven-course tasting menu with matching 'flight of wines'.
With no reserve price, bidders competed for the prize with the final bid coming in at £400. Jonathan Todd, owner of The Plough Wavendon said the bid was beyond is expectations and that 50% of the final auction price will be donated to The Orchard Project being run by Slow Food Bedford. Sue Miller from Slow Food said: "Grant & The Plough Wavendon have been great supporters of our project. This donation will help towards the education of school children in understanding the importance of our local Orchard and the vital role it plays in our food heritage." Jon Todd, the owner, commented: "We wanted to launch our spring menu and inject a little fun in these challenging times. We are very happy to have raised such a large amount for a worthy project that embraces part of our ethos: sustainability."
