Real Food Festival launches 'Save the Cauliflower' campaign
Chef Antony Worrall Thompson will conduct a symbolic cauliflower 'funeral', where he will dress up as a cardinal and together with producers from the Real Food Festival, will give the last rites to a 'coffin' of cauliflowers. To sign up to the Real Food campaign and to download cauliflower recipes, people can visit the Real Food website www.realfoodfestival.co.uk. Many problems are faced by cauliflower producers in the UK. Last summer's bad weather had a major impact on many sectors of British agriculture. But farmers say the problem is to do with supermarkets failing to give them a fair price for their produce. There is a demand for home-grown locally produced food, however growers will not continue if they can't make any money from it. The Real Food Festival runs from 24-27 April and will be held at London's Earls Court.
