Rational joins forces with The Clink Charity

Written by: Edward Waddell
Rational has announced that it is partnering with The Clink Charity to help deliver training that will help prisoners get jobs in the foodservice and catering industries when they are released from prison.

The Clink Charity trainees have shown a ‘significant’ 65.6% drop in reoffending rates post release from prison. In April 2021, The Clink Charity announced they were planning to expand the training project to an additional 23 prisons by the end of 2021 and to another 36 prisons in 2022.

Gregg Brown, director of training and operations at The Clink, said: “Throughout my career, Rational has been a constant presence in the kitchens I worked in. In order to offer prisoners, the best chance of getting a job after release it’s vital that they know how to use these systems.”

The first training session was held at Rational’s head office in Luton on 25 November where ten trainers who will work at two prison sites were given training on the full Rational product line.

Adam Knights, Rational’s UK marketing director, said: “The past few years have seen the industry struggling with staff shortages. Rational is committed to find solutions to issues affecting the sector, and initiatives like this have enormous potential not only to help the Clink Graduates move on with their lives in a positive direction, but to have huge benefits for catering as a whole.”
