Public Sector Catering crowns winners at awards ceremony

The Public Sector Catering Awards, which took place on 7 April at the London Hilton Metropole, celebrated winners across a variety of categories including Chef of the Year, Catering College Award and Armed Forces Catering Award.

Jeremey Vine was the host of the PSC Awards night, which was attended by over 500 people from the public sector catering industry. There was an additional award for Industry Recognition that was presented to Nadim and Tanya Ednan-Laperouse for their work in raising awareness of food allergies. 

PSC Award winners:

  • Armed Forces Catering Award: AB Devorne Gibson - Royal Navy, Even at this early stage in his career he is deservedly established as an outstanding role model to junior sailors of all branches.
  • Catering College Award: Greg Cheeseman - Eastleigh College, Greg’s approach to teaching has always been a selfless one, putting the learners first and ensuring they are at the heart of everything that he does.
  • Chef of the Year Award: Darren Passmore - Compass Group, Darren has a passion for food and is committed to ensuring all patients and visitors have the best possible experience in often the worst time of someone’s life.
  • Team of the Year Award: Sodexo Colchester Team, The repatriation won wide praise, with the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, writing to acknowledge the ‘great work at Colchester’.
  • Training and Apprenticeship Award: NHS Supply Chain: Food, The recipes used on the day at Chefs Academy events are now in over 30 NHS hospital sites across England, inspiring NHS catering teams.
