Pritchitts searches for young stars in its Taste of the World challenge

Written by: Admin
Leading dairy manufacturer Pritchitts has launched the search to find the best emerging culinary talent.
It is challenging young chefs to create a dish inspired by international cuisine in a new 'Taste of the World' initiative reflecting its global heritage. The competition, in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs, is open to student chefs in the UK and Ireland aged 16-21 who are being invited to submit a 300 word recipe featuring at least one product from Pritchitts' extensive range. This includes products such as Millac Gold, Millac dairy whipping cream, Lakeland Dairies butter and Viva milk to name just a few. Twelve lucky finalists will attend an international master class hosted by Cyrus Todiwala, the renowned executive chef and owner of the Café Spice Namasté, have their recipes featured in the 2012 Pritchitts and Craft Guild calendar, and receive an annual membership to the Craft Guild of Chefs. The top three entrants will win a set of Global chef's knives and go on to a live cook off. The overall winner will receive the 'money can't buy' prize of work experience at an award winning restaurant. There will also be a bonus for the winning student's college, which will receive £200 worth of catering equipment vouchers. Head of Marketing Simon Muschamp said: "As an international company, we want to give students an opportunity to create recipes reflecting our culinary heritage and tradition. The Taste of the World competition will provide rising stars of the culinary world with the platform to showcase their creativity and their cooking skills." To enter, student chefs have to submit their recipe online at www.pritchitts.com/taste-of-the-world between May 1 and June 30 2011. The recipes will be judged by leading members of the Craft Guild on the basis of four criteria – international origin, creativity, the use of Pritchitts' products and simplicity. Visitors to the website can also request their free Taste of the World pack to promote the competition in colleges.
