Oranka MD gears up for 10k dash for Hospitality Action

Written by: Admin
Troy Smith, managing director of the Craft Guild’s business partner Oranka Fruit Juices, is training hard for the 10km he plans to run to raise funds for the industry’s charity Hospitality Action (HA).
However to make his challenge even harder and stand out from the crowd, he is also carrying 10kg in extra weight. Smith said: "I'm training hard and so far I'm running three to four times a week carrying 8kg and doing about 6km. By July 10, race day, I should be ready." Of the 10kg jacket he plans to wear, he said: "I look like a suicide bomber when I wear it – nine pockets filled with sandbags and the race finishes in Downing Street – it could be interesting." So far he has got his time down to 50 minutes and has lost a lot of weight in the process but Smith, who sits on the HA board and does a lot of work on its behalf, believes it's worth it. More than £800 has been pledged so far but he says he would really like more to encourage him to train even harder. "Every little bit helps, so if you want to support me please visit www.justgiving.com/Troy-Smith and make a pledge," he said.
