OCC names Henry Kenyon & Arti Mirwani Daltry as scholarship winners
The winners were revealed at a ceremony at the L’Escargot restaurant in Soho, attended by a range of high-profile figures from across the media and hospitality industry.
Applicants to the Lou Willcock Scholarship were invited to propose a personal or professional development project that reflects their aspirations and passions and that will have a lasting impact on society.
Kenyon, who won the Lou Willcock Scholarship, will use his £5,000 grant to complete a long-form photo-essay exploring the activities of a regenerative learning farm at the Black Mountains College in Wales, where he is currently a student.
For three days per week over ten months he will record the ways the people of the farm are improving the biodiversity of soil, growing food and passing on knowledge. This will lead to workshops and a physical and online exhibition focused on regenerative farming techniques.
OCC also offers the Yan-Kit So Award for those who are planning to write their first cookbook or work of non-fiction focused on any aspect of Asian food culture. Winning this award was Mirwani-Daltry, who will use her £3,000 grant to undertake a research trip to Indonesia and Singapore.
Donald Sloan, founder of the Oxford Cultural Collective, said: "Aligned with OCC’s values. both our winners have a strong sense of social purpose related to extending cultural understanding and promoting ethical business practice. They are determined to make a tangible and lasting contribution to society."
