National Seafood Chef of the Year cooks for York's Lord Mayor

Written by: Admin
As part of the York Food Festival, National Seafood Chef of the Year Rob Green - chef/owner of Greens Restaurant, Bistro and Apartments in Whitby - is travelling to York to cook for the City's Lord Mayor.
Up to 40 festival goers will join the Mayor's table at The Mansion House, for this event on Wednesday 22nd September. The five course dinner menu celebrates the food of the Whitby area, with seafood and produce from the surrounding coast and moorland hedgerows. Green said: " I am honoured to be preparing this special meal for the Lord Mayor and guests, and although menus for banquets have changed a lot over the years, all the ingredients I have selected for this prestigious occasion can be found in many banqueting menus from years gone by. "Lobster and Turbot would have featured prominently, as would preserved ginger, tarts and fruits. I have included all of these on the menu for this special occasion, and round off the Dinner with a traditional specialty, Yorkshire Curd Tart with Clotted Cream & Hedgerow Fruit Compote." The York Food Festival is taking place from 17-26 September.
