Written by: Admin
The Milestone gastropub and restaurant in Kelham Island has taken the top prize in Sheffield's annual restaurant awards, at a special ceremony held at Cutler's Hall.
The eatSheffield awards, organised by the Sheffield Business School at Sheffield Hallam University, are voted for by the public and include 14 different categories. The Milestone took the restaurant of the year title after winning 23% of the public vote. It was also named best pub dining with 47% of the vote. Milestone co-owner Marc Sheldon said: "It's a reflection of how much hard work we're putting in. There are so many good restaurants in Sheffield at the minute it's great to see our hard work's paying off." Professor Christine Booth, pro vice-chancellor of Sheffield Business School, added: "These awards represent the best in dining out in the city, as voted for by the people of Sheffield. That makes them all the more meaningful and special. Marco at Milano on Archer Road took the prize for best Italian, and came second in the best restaurant category, while Ashoka on Ecclesall Road claimed the best Indian restaurant award. Almost 3,000 people voted in total, with over 50 restaurants nominated in the best restaurant category. Votes were carried out by email and text, via the eatSheffield website.
