Making a difference celebrates 50 years of funding

Written by: Admin
The Savoy Educational Trust has launched a booklet commemorating 50 years of funding training and education initiatives in the hospitality industry.
The booklet, which includes a foreword written by Prince Charles, delves into the history of the Trust and highlights some of the most inspirational projects it has supported over the years, including The Jamie Oliver Foundation, Springboard UK's FutureChef programme, and the Ark Foundation's mission to address the problem of alcohol and drug abuse in the industry. The Trust's funds have also helped transform training facilities and kitchens in colleges throughout the country, such as the £750,000 grant to create the world class leadership and development suite that is due to open this year at the University of West London, formerly Thames Valley University. By showing the major successes of projects, newly appointed Trust chairman Ramon Pajares hopes to encourage organisations to apply for grants during its golden anniversary year. He said: "The Savoy Educational Trust has a tremendous track record in helping improve the standard of hospitality training and education in the UK, and this booklet celebrates these achievements. "As well as looking back at some of the projects that have helped shape hospitality training, we want the book to inspire more educational establishments and relevant associations to apply for funding so that we can make a difference for today's students and the stars of tomorrow. "It is incredibly important that young people are inspired to enter this exciting industry. By providing funding for those colleges and universities that are working in partnership with their local community and employers, and by equipping them with state of the art facilities, we believe this pipeline of talent will want to study for and gain relevant qualifications, leading to a successful career in hospitality." The booklet will be available to those attending the Trust's 50th anniversary celebration being held at The Savoy Hotel in May. • To obtain a copy of the booklet, email Clare Basire on [email protected]
