Major Culinary Challenge Competition opens for entry

Written by: Edward Waddell
The Major Culinary Challenge Competition, held in conjunction with the Craft Guild of Chefs, has opened entries for both seniors and junior chefs.

Wayne Harris, chairman of judges for the Craft Guild of Chefs, said: “It gives me great pleasure to be part of this competition and it’s great to see so many chefs coming forward to compete each year. This competition provides a great opportunity for chefs to showcase their skills.

“Guaranteed to test their culinary skills and workmanship in addition to their use of flavour and understanding of the Major products. Back by popular demand are the Street Food and Cake Bake classes.”

The semi-finals will require the competitors to cook their menu in front of the judges in 60 minutes. A winner and runner-up will be chosen from each semi-final at each venue, giving us four junior and four senior finalists who will compete at HRC in March 2023.

The juniors must be under 22-years-old as of March 2023 and seniors must be 22-years-old and above as of March 2023. The paper entries will need to be submitted by 25th November 2022. All entrants must use appropriate Major products as specified and failure to do so will result in disqualification.

The overall winners of the junior and senior Major Culinary Challenge Competition will win a Michelin-starred meal for themselves and a plus one in their local area. The winners will also take part in a culinary flavour discovery at the home of Major in Milton Keynes for two days.

In addition to the two-course challenge there will be a Street Food and Cake Bake Class. Medals will be awarded with £50 Amazon vouchers for the winner.
