M Restaurant Group launches company-wide wellbeing scheme
As such, all employees will be given an additional four ‘fully paid working days’ a year, which they can use in a variety of ways.
From a ‘mental health day’ to lower stress or simply rest to ‘recovering from an overindulgent night’ on the tiles, operations director, Andre Mannini, explained: “The hospitality industry must catch up with other industries and adopt an environment where a younger generation of employees have solid mental wellbeing, and are inspired to perform to their finest when at work.
“M-indful days will help nurture this environment. All too often we see amazing talent in kitchens, bars and restaurants in London burning out and leaving the industry.
“I challenge the rest of the hospitality industry to make this (scheme) a standard practise”.
The company has promised to add any unused days to employees’ holiday allowance, which will be paid if not utilised.
As part of the programme, staff now also have access to the app Spill, which allows them to consult a personal councillor without booking an appointment. They can also exchange text messages whenever needed – all completely anonymous and free of charge (the cost is covered by M.)
‘M--indful Days’ is the latest of four initiatives recently launched by the London-based restaurant company.
