Lockhart Catering Equipment case study: 74 Charlotte Street with Ben Murphy
For head chef Ben Murphy the opening is the culmination of 15 years in the industry which has seen him work at The Berkeley and more recently at Launceston Place, then winning the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs National Chef of the Year in 2022.
Taking the reins at 74 Charlotte Street, Murphy has created an integrated dining experience where the tableware, cutlery, glassware and serving crockery is matched to the menu. Every tableware and barware item at 74 Charlotte Street by Ben Murphy is sourced from Lockhart Catering Equipment.
During building renovations, several visits to the Lockhart Innovation Centre with menu in hand, ensured that the restaurant would deliver the dining ‘mood’ the head chef was looking to create for his restaurant.
Working so closely with the Lockhart Catering Equipment team has created a partnership where the head chef feels the team intuitively knows what he’s looking for, and when the menu changes, he can dash off to the Lockhart Innovation Centre to explore new tableware to continue to create the perfect dining experience.
Murphy said: “Having Lockhart behind me, here with what we’re doing in this restaurant – it’s incredible. They’re on the end of the phone if I need anything and are more than just a supplier to me, it’s a relationship and the products are always high in quality.
“The work we’ve done together, matching my menu with the plates, the cutlery; it’s all done for a reason and for me, the guest feedback is what matters the most and it’s been incredible, so, yeah, I’d highly recommend working with Lockhart.”
