Le Gavroche celebrates 50th anniversary

Written by: Isabel Finch
Le Gavroche, the restaurant established by Albert and Michel Roux, will this year celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Run by chef patron Michel Roux Jr, the restaurant in Mayfair, London, will serve a limited edition, five-course menu, which will include Le Gavroche dishes from 1967 to 2017.

Roux Jr said: “I am incredibly proud of the restaurant’s 50th anniversary, and the journey it’s taken to get here.

“My father and uncle opened the restaurant and made it one of London’s legends - to be able to continue that legacy and bring it to this historic landmark is one of the greatest achievements of my career.”

The limited edition menu, available until December, will cost £90pp and includes a copy of the Le Gavroche cookbook. The 1967th booking will receive a gift from Michel to be presented on their visit to the restaurant.

Private and public celebratory events and announcements of collaborations will also take place over the course of the year.

Roux Jr took over the restaurant from father Albert Roux and uncle Michel Roux in 1991.
