Le Cordon Bleu announces 15 finalists for the Julia Child Scholarship

The Julia Child Scholarship by Le Cordon Bleu has announced 15 of the 16 finalists who will compete at the institute in Bloomsbury Square, London, on 16 September.

Le Cordon Bleu is searching for talented chefs regardless of age, location or background to win this ‘once in a lifetime opportunity.’  

The current finalists are: Dora Popova, Daniela Glattfelder, Laurence Hamdan, Bianca Tia Mesuria, Anna Jia, Katharina Bergerhoff, Katie-Poppy Inskip, Renuka Lassalle, Kirsty Massa, Elizabeth Melia, Melissa Oum, Michelle Hiller, Tiffany Hall, Andrea Banados and Stephanie Lobo.

A total of 16 aspiring pastry chefs and food entrepreneurs will battle it out in the final to win a prize worth £45,000, to be presented by Le Cordon Bleu alumna Mary Berry.

For the first time the 16th final spot will be chosen by the general public, who will submit their vote via YouTube by liking one of the 17 remaining semi-finalists one minute videos. The person with the most votes at 12:00pm on the 31 July 2019 will reach the final.

The Julia Child Scholarship begins in January 2020 and lasts a year. It includes a place on Le cordon bleu’s Diplôme de Pâtisserie and the Diploma in Culinary Management, an internship at the Savoy Hotel with a 12-month accommodation curtsy of Londonist.
