The Lancaster London wins Slingsby Cup Challenge

Written by: Admin
The Lancaster London Hotel has beaten off stiff competition from 10 other teams from the hospitality industry to win the 2009 Slingsby Cup Challenge.
The team at the hotel (formerly The Royal Lancaster Hotel) decorated their trolley with a bee hive, sunflowers and bees (the hotel keeps bee hives on its roof) with the team sporting full beekeepers outfits. The challenge, as part of the Brakes Food & Fitness festival and the Royal Parks Half Marathon, held in support of The Springboard Charity, featured a parade of imaginatively decorated Slingsby trolleys, manned by teams from some of the industry's premier businesses. Prizes were given to the teams whose trolleys best captured the spirit of the industry and reflected a link to their own businesses. Other teams included The Metropolitan Hotel, Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, London Marriott Grosvenor Square, Profile, The Royal Automobile Club, The Royal Garden Hotel, The Savoy & Simpsons in The Strand, Starwood Hotel Central London and Westminster Kingsway College. Prizes were announced and presented to the teams by Celebrity TV Presenter Leah Charles and Springboard Chief Executive Anne Pierce. Christian Slingsby, sales director of workplace equipment provider Slingsby which donated the trolleys for the event, said: "The Springboard Slingsby Challenge is always a fantastic event and is great fun for everyone involved. As a leading supplier to the hospitality industry, we're delighted to be able to support the invaluable work that Springboard does to create career opportunities in the sector." The event raised funds for The Springboard Charity to help continue their vital work helping the young, unemployed and disadvantaged into work within the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry.
