The Jahan Indian restaurant group raises £2,000 for Pakistan Flood Appeal with help from Tilda
The Jahan Indian Bar and Restaurant group, based in Warrington, Cheshire, has raised almost £2,000 for the Pakistan Flood Appeal organised by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).
Supported by rice supplier Tilda, the group offered free à la carte meals for a fortnight at its restaurants in Walton and Lymm. During the 'Meals for Free' drive, diners reserving a table at these ventures only had to pay for drinks. At the end of the meal, they were asked to contribute whatever they felt appropriate for their food – with the proceeds going to the charity appeal. Tilda contributed to the charity fund-raising by supplying basmati rice free of charge during the two-week event during which an estimated 400 free covers were served. Lee Edgar at Tilda, said: "We are happy to have had the opportunity to support such a deserving cause, because the money raised will help to alleviate the suffering of people whose lives have been shattered by the flooding."
