Eat Out to Help Out scheme reaches 10.5 million meals

Written by: Edward Waddell
According to HMRC as of 9 August there have been over 10.5 million meals claimed as part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, with over 83,000 restaurants signed up to the campaign.

Government figures showed 80% of hospitality firms stopped trading in April and 1.4 million workers were put on furlough- the highest proportion of any sector.

Will Broome, founder and chief executive of Ubamarket, said: “As we move into the second week of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, it seems clear that it has already had a positive impact for the hospitality sector.

“The noticeably increased footfall will no doubt give struggling hospitality venues a much-needed boost and bodes well for the future of the sector.”
