Double accolade for chef Alan Coxon
Food Archaeologist Alan Coxon is the first ever chef to win two awards in the Best Potato Recipe in the World competition.
Coxon beat off stiff competition from acclaimed chefs from over 20 countries with his British Lamb and Potato Pie. He also gained an Honourable Mention for his Potato and Celeriac Gratin.
"I am over the moon about winning this award, but I am also delighted that faced with global competition and a myriad of exotic ingredients, my recipe is of very strong British origins and flies the flag for some fine British produce."
Almost 140 recipes were entered from France to Singapore.
The potato is a key part of the British diet, with Brits eating as many as 500 a year per person.
