Cyrus Todiwala receives Special Achievement accolade at annual Footprint Awards

Written by: Admin
At the glittering Footprint Awards ceremony at the Royal Institute of British Architecture in London, Cyrus Todiwala received the Special Achievement Award for his wholehearted contribution to sustainability.
The award, sponsored by 3663, singled out the renowned Indian chef and owner of Café Spice Namasté as an "unreserved, no-holds-barred champion of the environment and sustainability – whether supporting local farmers and fishermen, promoting healthy diets or budding entrepreneurs who share his ethos – who does so much 'below the radar' that the public sees only half of his commitment in action". A raft of winners was rewarded for their contributions to sustainability and environmental excellence. Headline sponsor of the awards was Nestlé Professional, who sponsored the Environmentally Efficient Logistics Award, which was awarded to Brakes, for its 'Going the Extra Mile' programme. Nestlé too won an award – the Sustainable Sourcing Award sponsored by Bartlett Mitchell, for its Cocoa Plan that helps cocoa farmers run profitable farms, respect the environment and to live a good quality of life. Footprint Media communications director Christophe Stourton said: "We have been greatly encouraged by the amount and quality of entries in this year's awards. It really shows, despite tough economic times, how vital sustainability is to the future of this sector and the benefits that it brings to the environment, the communities in which they operate and to their businesses." • For a full list of award winners, visit www.footprint-awards.com
