The Craft Guild of Chefs chief executive, Andrew Green, has been awarded an Honorary Fellow from the Faculty of Hospitality and Culinary Arts, Westminster Kingsway College.

The title was given to Green at a graduation ceremony, which took place on 27 September 2019.

Terry Tinton, head of Hospitality and Culinary Arts at Westminster Kingsway College, wrote: “Honorary Fellow appointments are granted to leading figures in the hospitality industry with expertise in areas which are relevant to the future development of this (Westminster Kingsway College) faculty, coupled with their ability to inspire students.

“There can be no doubt the Craft Guild has thrived under your leadership. In the same spirit, your support of our work has been extremely valued. Undeniably, your journey to the top took dedication, resilience, motivation and inspiration; personal qualities our students need to embrace as they embark on their hospitality careers.”

Compliments for Green flooded in on Twitter from industry associations including PACE (Professional Association for Catering Education), TUCO (The University Caterers Organisation) and the NACC (National Association of Care Catering).

Green said: “It’s a great honour and privilege to receive this title. To be recognised in this way by my peers is quite humbling. My sincere thanks to Westminster Kingsway College for allowing me to join their prestigious ranks.

“Now let’s all work together to get the next generation of chefs and hospitality workers ready for the challenges ahead.”

The role of an Honorary Fellow includes supporting the strategic objectives of the college and to inspire the student body by delivering guest lectures. Westminster Kingsway College is one of the largest further education colleges in London, with around 14,000 students.

Chef Geoff Acott, vice president of The Craft Guild of Chefs, added: “Well done Andrew – Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy. Your work for the Guild is exemplary.”
