Chef Paul Ainsworth opens cookery class at No.6

Written by: Katie Imms
Chef Paul Ainsworth is to open a brand new cookery school at his Padstow-based restaurant, No.6, in partnership with his wife Emma and head chef John Walton.

Launching this May, Mahé cookery school takes inspiration from an island in the Seychelles where Ainsworth’s parents met, and will showcase the ‘best’ produce that Cornwall has to offer.

Paul Ainsworth said: “It has been John, Emma and my dream to open our own cookery school for some time now, and we are incredibly proud to finally be able to talk about Mahé.

“We thought long and hard about a name that would suit its origins. Quite rightly, Emma said it should resonate with beginnings and my parents meeting on an island in the Indian Ocean was the very start of their journey.

“Our guests at Mahé will witness the creation of dishes from the start to finish by long-time colleague and friend, John Walton.

“The three of us are so excited to welcome our first students in May.”

Offering a multifunctional service, Mahé will act as a cookery school during the day with Michelin-starred chef Walton leading classes of six.

At £250 per person, guests are offered breakfast, a behind-the-scenes tour, lunch in No.6’s private room and a goody bag. They will also build their skillset while creating dishes to take home.

In the evening, Mahé will transform into a private dining space for up to 10 diners. The chef’s table experience will enable guests to watch Walton and team create a bespoke menu while offering insight and explanations behind each dish.
