Chef celebrates Great British Beef Week with virtual cook-along

Written by: Edward Waddell
Chef Chris Wheeler will be hosting a virtual cook-along today (St George’s Day) to celebrate Great British Beef Week.

For 2021 and Great British Beef Week’s 11th year, the organisers were determined not to be defeated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chef Wheeler, a Great British Menu contestant, will be guiding guests step-by-step to create a classic British inspired three-course menu. The virtual live session will run from 7-8:30pm where chef Wheeler will share his culinary expertise and top tips.

Tickets are available through a £30 per log in donation, available via Eventbrite rabicookalong.eventbrite.co.uk, with all of the money donated going to the RABI.

The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) is farming’s oldest and largest charity, established in 1860.  It offers financial support, practical care and guidance to farming people of all ages, including farmers, farmworkers and dependants.

Once registered, guests will receive an ingredients and kit list to organise in advance, and a link to the online Zoom event. The ingredients list is based on cooking for two people but can be scaled up or down based on the size of household.

Wheeler said: “There is no doubt that the past 12 months has been extremely challenging, and charities have really struggled to continue their valued work as fundraising has all but stopped.

“This Great British Beef Week cook-along is a new one for me, and I’m proud to help the RABI raise essential funds, whilst also showing others how to cook an amazing beef dish.”
