Craig Sandle from The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh won the Restaurant Chef Award at this year's annual Craft Guild of Chefs' Awards held on the 16th June.
Craig Sandle started his career at the Balmoral Hotel as chef de partie, progressing to his current role as sous chef at the hotel's Number One restaurant.
Working with executive chef Jeff Bland, he contributes to the continued success of the restaurant, including the gaining of its third AA rosette in 2006 and maintaining its Michelin star in 2008. In addition he has also won several industry accolades including an Acorn Award in 2005 as well as winning best starter at the Craft Guild's Knorr National Chef of the Year competition in 2006, having made it through to the final.
