Young National Chef of the Year winner Ben Murphy and Rositsa Nikolova from the House of Commons, one of the finalists in the 2012 competition, are preparing for a three day gourmet adventure at The Lodge in Loch Goil, in Argyll, Scotland, an exclusive luxury five-star resort.

The trip, which takes place from April 29-30, is part of the winner’s prize package provided by competition sponsors Churchill and Lockhart Catering Equipment and will include adventure activities such as canoeing, quad biking, clay shooting, a fishing trip and whisky tasting, plus an opportunity to explore the food and drink heritage of the region.

Ahead of the trip, Churchill UK sales director Adrian Botterell said: “The standard of presentation and quality on display at the final in October was truly amazing. We are proud to be involved and support a competition that celebrates young talent.

“The Young National Chef of the Year competition gives winners and finalists real opportunities to develop their careers and we’re pleased to be able, along with Lockhart Catering Equipment, to offer such a unique prize to reward their hard work.”

Ian Parsons, regional sales director at Lockhart Catering Equipment added: “Lockhart Catering Equipment has been proud supporters of the Young National Chef of the Year competition for a number of years.

“This year the standard of cooking by all finalists has been exemplary. They all have very bright futures in this passionate industry and we look forward to supporting them in their future careers.”

Both Botterell and Parsons will accompany the finalists, together with Ben Tearall from Lockhart Catering Equipment and head judge of the competition, Steve Munkley, executive chef at the Royal Garden Hotel and vice president of the Craft Guild of Chefs.
