An update on National Chef of the Year and Young National Chef of the Year

Written by: Edward Waddell
The Craft Guild of Chefs has had to make some changes to the National and Young National Chef of the Year finals and awards evening following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this sad time.

Given the national importance and impact of the state funeral on Monday 19th September, we have postponed the cook-off and awards evening which was due to take place on the same day.

The new date for both the final and awards night is Monday 31st October and we’ll be sending out more details of these events as and when we have them.

For 50 years the National Chef of the Year, and more recently Young National Chef of the Year, have been evolving and rising to the many challenges we continue to face. We have no doubt that the new date for the final and awards celebration will allow us to mark this historic milestone within culinary competition at the highest level.

In the meantime, we will take this respectful pause in our communications in recognition of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passing and in support of The Craft Guild of Chefs Patron, HRH The Countess of Wessex.

Thank you to all our competitors, sponsors, the media and industry friends for your support in this decision.
