Winner - Conor Stein Royal Garden Hotel
Conor Stein became an apprentice chef at the Royal Garden Hotel 18 months ago and during that time has shown his maturity as a young chef through amazing planning and organisational skills, according to executive chef Steve Munkley.
He was just 14 when he signed up to Westminster Kingsway College's Junior Chef Academy 10 week course and he took to cooking with a passion, offering to do a further 10 weeks. This culminated in Stein and his fellow chefs undertaking the whole service of the graduation lunch. He has since proved himself to be a very proactive apprentice chef, overcoming his problems with dyslexia in his determination to succeed.
His attendance at Westminster Kingsway is 100% and the college says that when an apprentice wants to learn as much as Stein does, it makes helping and supporting him easy, a view echoed by Munkley.
