Wrapmaster empowers chefs to reduce kitchen waste & cut costs

Written by: Edward Waddell
Wrapmaster is calling on chefs, caterers and operators to act now on food waste to embed cost-saving habits before legislation comes in.

In 2023/24, operators will need to separate their food wastage from general waste as well as other recyclable waste and send it for recycling. By 2030, foodservice sites will no longer be permitted to send their food waste to landfill or incineration.

Wrapmaster’s ‘innovative’ food wrap system offers an effective solution to help chefs and foodservice operators tackle the challenges posed by the new food waste legislation. According to research 97% of chefs confirmed Wrapmaster has helped them to reduce their use of food wrap in the kitchen.

Adrian Brown, managing director of Cofresco Foodservice, said: “The compliance deadline is rapidly approaching for 2023/2024. Operators need to adapt their practices when it comes to food waste to meet regulations and combat the cost of living crisis. But it’s tough in the kitchen right now.

“Ingredient prices, energy bills, staff salaries and the subsequent menu price increase are all having an impact, but small changes back of house will help in the long run. We want to support chefs and operators wherever possible with a sustainable, cost-effective and practical approach to wrapping and protecting food.”

Endorsed by the Craft Guild of Chefs and recommended by food safety professionals, Wrapmaster can be sanitised and disinfected in a commercial dishwasher to reduce the risk of cross-contamination and keep food safe. The patented concealed blade in the dispenser guarantees hands are always safe for speedy cutting.
