Wrapmaster continues commitment to young chefs in latest venture

Written by: Edward Waddell
Cofresco Foodservice, maker of the award-winning Wrapmaster range, has extended its support of the British Culinary Foundation (BCF) into another year.

The sponsorship is part of Wrapmaster’s ongoing commitment to support chefs at every stage of their professional culinary career. Wrapmaster will look to support the BCF, and its members, in three upcoming events:

  • BCF Young Chef of the Year competition
  • Student Cook and Serve Team Challenge
  • Support to the national team

Now in its 27th year, the BCF Young Chef of the Year competition is open to participants aged 25 and under. It will take place on the 11th November 2024 at University College Birmingham and will be followed by a dinner and prizegiving. Successful finalists will have the chance to secure a range of prizes, including a Grass Fed Irish Beef Masterclass with Aubrey Allen and seeded entry into the National Young Chef of the Year 2025.

Competitors will be asked to prepare, cook, and present a 3-course menu for two, made up of a fish starter, a main using Rib-Eye of Dry Aged Grass Fed Irish Beef and a dessert of their choice in just two hours. The young chefs will be marked on their culinary skills shown, method, presentation, flavour and hygiene practices.

Wrapmaster will be supplying its award-winning dispensers, and refills, on the day to help each chef maintain stringent hygiene on their workstation.

Adrian Brown, managing director of Cofresco Foodservice, said: “Encouraging young chefs to explore their talent and passion in cooking and further their career is so important to us at Wrapmaster. We’re delighted to be able to continue our support of a vital industry organisation such as the BCF.

“The BCF’s Young Chef of the Year competition gives entrants a chance to gain valuable experience that they can take back to their own kitchens. With so much to look out for as a chef, from dietary requirements to food safety, we hope each chef will appreciate the Wrapmaster, and the benefits it brings, during the final.”
