Scottish Chef Conference announces 2018 line-up

This year’s Scottish Chef Conference (5 November) will focus on sustainable sourcing, feeding the planet, and attracting and retaining young people into the industry, with a stellar line-up just announced.

With over 500 delegates to attend, the 2018 event will see national champions, chefs Adam Handling (of the Adam Handling group) and Gary Millard take to the stage alongside American chef Christopher Koetke and sustainability ‘champions,’ Jim Cowie and Neil Forbes.

 

James Withers, Scotland Food & Drink chief executive, will open the conference, which is set to be attended by Albert Roux – [atron of Scottish Chefs - and 10 students from each Scottish college.

 

Scottish Chefs chief executive, Neil Thomson, commented: “In our third year of running the conference, we are delighted to bring a together such a diverse and exciting line up of inspiring and talented chefs to Scotland. 

 

“With 2018 being the ‘Year of Young People’ and as young chefs are key to the future success of our industry, we are pleased to work with our partners to bring skills demonstrations and a healthy bit of competition into the event for the student chef attendees.


“In addition to the activities during the day, we have had fantastic input from industry who are supporting the event with so much enthusiasm, and we have a great line up of exciting exhibitors to network with”.

The Scottish Chef Conference will close with a four-course meal showcasing Scottish produce, produced and served in collaboration with the Hilton Hotel staff and students.

 

It will take place 5 November at The DoubleTree by Hilton (Glasgow Central).
