Royal Academy of Culinary Arts opens Annual Awards of Excellence
The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts has launched its 2019 Annual Awards of Excellence (AAE), with entry set to close 4 February.
Recognising talented and ambitious chefs, pastry chefs and waiters across the country, the annual examination is open to people aged 20-26 who must be working full-time in the UK.
While all candidates who attain the ‘standard of excellence’ set by the judges will achieve the AAE, the highest scorer in each section will be named the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts’ prestigious Young Chef, Young Pastry Chef and Young Waiter of the Year 2019.
This year’s judges include:
- AAE 2019 honorary president, Jason Atherton (chef patron of The Social Company)
- AAE chairman John Williams (The Ritz executive chef)
- Joint chairmen of kitchen: Marytn Nail (Claridge’s executive chef) and Hywel Jones (executive chef at Lucknam Park)
- Joint chairmen of pastry: Yolande Stanley (The Pastry Training Company) and pastry consultant Sarah Hartnett;
- Joint chairmen of service Sergio Rebecchi (director of Serenata Hospitality) and John Cousins (director of The Food and Beverage Company).
