New partnership sees London restaurant Lima Floral prevent rainforest destruction

Written by: Katie Imms
London-based, Peruvian restaurant Lima Floral (founded by chef Virgilio Martinez in 2012) has partnered with Cool Earth charity to help prevent rainforest destruction.

Having just opened its brand new cocktail bar, The Lost Alpaca, Lima is donating 20% of proceeds from each ‘Vida’ cocktail sold to Cool Earth to help “halt rainforest destruction by helping the people who depend on it.”

To mark the partnership, a launch event took place at Lima Covent Garden this week (18 September), which saw Cool Earth patron Vivienne Westwood and fellow ambassadors Jasmine Hemsley, Kelly Hoppen and Daniel Lismore all attend.

Lima Floral co-managing director, Gabriel Gonzalez, commented: “We are so excited about the collaboration with Cool Earth. Being a Peruvian restaurant, trying to halt rainforest destruction in Peru is so important to us and Cool Earth leads the way in making a difference.

“The rainforest in Peru is one of the main ecosystems there, and where a lot of our ingredients come from in the dishes we create here at Lima, so it is vital we ensure that it can thrive.

“In addition to this, there are such wonderful communities based in the Peruvian rainforest that deserve to remain in their homes.

“By creating our Vida cocktail with Cool Earth, we know that all the proceeds will go towards making a huge difference and we can’t wait for other future collaborations.”

Matthew Owen, director of Cool Earth added: “The party was a great way to celebrate our new partnership with Lima Floral and a way for us to grow our rainforest network.

“From the beginning, Cool Earth has been about partnerships and collaboration.

“We recognise that we can’t do this alone but with the right people and businesses like Lima on board, we can change the world.”
