NCOTY head judge plans to open his first solo restaurant at Le Gavroche site

Matt Abé, chef patron at three Michelin starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, will open his own restaurant at the Le Gavroche site, it was reported by The Evening Standard.

In 2024 Abé was named as chair of judges for Craft Guild of Chefs National Chef of the Year competition. One of his big changes was to extend the cook-off time to give chefs more time.

Ramsay has secured a 15-tear lease on the property at 42 Upper Brook Street site. Chef Michel Roux Jr announced that after 56 years Le Gavroche was closing in January 2024 so he could spend more time with his family and other business ventures.

Abé said: “This is a dream come true for me. After 16 years at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, I’m ready to grow my ambition and open my own restaurant. I am grateful to Gordon for his support, the faith he has shown in me, and I am incredibly excited about this huge opportunity.”
