Le Meridien in New Delhi unveils a ‘captivating’ terracotta Christmas tree
The event welcomed hotel guests, media, influencers and the local community to witness the ‘magic’ as the terracotta masterpiece was illuminated for the first time.
Chef Vivek Chauhan said: “The terracotta tree is not just a Christmas tree, it is a symbol of sustainable living, creativity and community engagement. By embracing this innovative concept, individuals and communities can celebrate the holiday season with a unique and environmentally conscious touch, fostering a sense of responsibility and connection to the world around us.
“A Christmas tree that authentically embodies the spirit of community upliftment, adorned with innovation, creativity, and festivity, is constructed using fifteen hundred terracotta pots. The tree has been constructed by stacking terracotta pots of various sizes in a tiered formation, creating a cone shape, topped with a big star made of terracotta jali. Lights have been woven through the pots to add a warm and festive glow.”
Executive chef Davinder Kumar along with executive pastry chef Vivek Chauhan and his patisserie team of Le Meridien New Delhi, presented a buffet. It included traditional Christmas specialities, Plum Cake, Plum Pudding, Panettone, Mince Pies, Dundee Cake, Pandoro, Christmas Yule Log Cake.
The terracotta Christmas tree will grace the hotel's lobby throughout the holiday season from 8th- 30th December.
