Lamb Weston unveils latest sustainability report
Lamb Weston is focussing on three key challenges including achieving a balanced diet, zero waste and climate change using the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guide.
In its 2030 Commitment Lamb Weston states that it will aim to reduce its carbon footprint with 25% less CO2 emissions per ton of finished product, and use 40% renewable energy sources in its plants. Since 2008 Lamb Weston has sent zero waste to landfill and less than 0.5% has been incinerated.
Lamb Weston’s 2030 commitment means it will be reducing oil content and calories by switching to thicker cut fries, new processing techniques and developing more offerings that are suitable for oven or air fryer preparation.
The company is planning to halve food waste by 2030 and it will also work with customers and industry organisers to increase plastic recycling in foodservice kitchens.
