Kiwi chef flies into UK to judge heats of World Tapas Competition

Renowned New Zealand-based chef Jasbir Kaur is flying into the UK to judge the UK heats of the World Tapas Competition, taking place in Sheffield on 16-17th July.

Chef Jas, as she is known, brings with her a wealth of international culinary experience. She is one of New Zealand’s leading advocates for global cuisine and is well-known for her deep ties to Spanish gastronomy.

Notably, she trained at Disfrutar—Barcelona’s acclaimed three Michelin-starred restaurant—where she honed her skills in contemporary tapas. Chef Jas has previously represented New Zealand at the World Tapas Championships in Valladolid and regularly hosts the Australasia Tapas Championships.

Paul Martin, director MIDAS and competition organiser, commented: “Her presence in Sheffield is a major coup for the UK heats, bringing authenticity, expertise, and a global lens to the judging panel.”
