Kikkoman Masters 2020 cooking competition opens for entries
Entries will be shortlisted with the ten best invited to showcase their skills at the live Kikkoman Masters final cook-off at The Restaurant Show on Monday, September 28.
Competition entries will be assessed by the Kikkoman Masters judging panel, which this year includes Mark Edwards, Nobu; Adam Handling of The Frog by Adam Handling; Simon Hulstone, The Elephant; Pip Lacey, Chef Owner at Hicce; David Mulcahy, Sodexo/Craft Guild of Chefs, Brian Turner, and Stefan Sewell, Combined Service Culinary Arts Team and Kikkoman Masters 2019 winner.
Bing-yu Lee, General Manager of Kikkoman UK, said: “Last year we had a very successful competition, with exceptional talent in the final. The competition is constantly evolving and this year we have adjusted the criteria to feature a vegetarian starter and a fish main course.
“Our 2019 winner Stefan Sewell will be off to Japan in 2021 (delayed due to Covid 19 travel restrictions), where he will be exploring the country’s amazing culinary heritage.”
Kikkoman Soy Sauce is endorsed by the Craft Guild of Chefs and is one of its approved products for foodservice. It is made using just four ingredients – soybeans, wheat, salt and water – and is now widely used as a multi-purpose seasoning in ethnic and western cooking.
