James Cochran hosts Great British Menu dinner series

Written by: Katie Imms
As Great British Menu’s first ever ‘Champion of Champions’ winner, chef James Cochran is hosting a weekly dinner series at his Islington-based restaurant, 1251, offering diners the chance to try his dishes from the programme.

Kicking off 6 November, the weekly event will take place every Monday and Tuesday, with tickets costing £75 per person for 1251’s signature gin and tonic and a three-course meal.

Cochran, who represented London and the South East on the BBC programme, is known for his modern take on British cuisine incorporating both his Scottish and West Indian heritage.

As such, his ‘Great British Menu’ dinner series’ menu will comprise:

  • His ‘Cep-tional’ starter: cep brioche, cep custard, savoury soil and truffle mayonnaise.
  • Cochran’s signature Goat Sharing Board’:  goat shoulder, belly, haunch, and shank, served alongside black-eyed pea dahl; coconut rice; roti; cucumber, pineapple and carrot salad; burnt lime and rum dressing; and scotch bonnet jam
  • Tree of life’ dessert: a coconut parfait served with mango purée-filled doughnuts, white chocolate and peanuts

The event will run for six weeks from 6 November. Tickets can be purchased here https://www.1251.co.uk/gbm/.
