Gaucho welcomes new group executive chef, after year of trouble
Argentinian-inspired restaurant group, Gaucho, has appointed native Max Castaldo as its new group executive chef.
He joins from The Lanesborough Hotel (London) where he worked as head chef from July 2017, and brings a ‘wealth’ of experience from other top hotels and restaurants across the world. These include Nobu Berkeley Street (London), three Michelin starred restaurant Lasarte (Barcelona) and Sushisamba (London).
As Gaucho’s group executive chef, Castaldo will research and develop restaurant menus, coach and train chef, and draw upon his ‘strong commitment’ to quality, sustainability and innovation throughout.
The news comes after a tumultuous year for the group, which fell into administration last summer before a ‘rescue deal’ saw it bought out by two banks. All of its 22 CAU restaurants were however closed as a result.
