Gary Usher hosts fundraising Michellin-star chef BBQ
Taking place last week (20 August), Usher was joined at the BBQ by Michelin-starred chef patron of Midsummer House, Daniel Clifford (who also helped organise the event); executive chef of The Wild Rabbit, Tim Allen; chef owner of Alimentum and The White Horse, Mark Poynton; Collette’s at the Grove’s head chef, Russel Bateman; head chef of Midsummer House, Mark Abbott and Pike & Pine’s Matt Gillan.
Dishes included honey and mustard glazed pork neck, charred cauliflower salad and sugar pit cured pork ribs, amongst others. DJ Afrodeutsch also provided the evening’s entertainment.
Usher said: “I was lost for words when Daniel offered to get everyone together for the Kickstarter. It was absolutely amazing to see all those faces in one place, cooking together again. I feel so humbled that Daniel made this happen and want to thank all the chefs and their teams for a truly unforgettable evening.”

As well as this, Dan Doherty of Duck & Waffle and Tom Kerridge are also supporting the campaign – Doherty set to host Wreckfish’s first brunch service on 5 November, and Kerridge to host a six-course menu later in the year – both already fully booked.
Having raised a total of £208,965, the Wreckfish campaign is the largest amount ever raised by Kickstarter for a UK restaurant – with £35,000 raised in just 24 hours.
