Former CGOC Pub Chef Award winner embarks on first solo venture
At just 28 years old, Stott already has a number of accolades under his belt – having received two AA Rosettes and a Michelin Bib Gourmand for The Sun Inn pub (Basingstoke), which he run as landlord and head chef since 2010.
Eight years on and he has just left, with plans to make his first solo venture - The Purefoy Arms – “one the U. K.’s top gastro pub destinations.”
In preparation, the 45-cover venue has undergone a six-figure refurbishment - designed to reflect Stott’s vision of a ‘traditional British pub’ that serves ‘creative’ dishes using seasonal ingredients from local suppliers.
Guests can expect: whole roasted stuffed quail with vegetables and bubble and squeak; and a faggot and rack of lamb served with pea and bacon succotash, celeriac, crushed potatoes and red wine jus.
He said: “Every inch of The Purefoy Arms has my stamp on it, from the design to the food.
“Diners can expect a regularly changing menu full of local produce, as well as some unexpected twists on classic pub food.
“Drawing on everything that I achieved at The Sun Inn, I want The Purefoy Arms to gain a national reputation for outstanding pub food and will be looking to add more awards to my collection.”
